Nodi is a lifestyle brand that brings Nordic and Asian designers together to create home products shaped by the best of both cultures. I designed the brand’s online experience, translating its cross-cultural point of view into a minimal, contemporary and highly visual website.

Challange, mission

Nodi sits between two design cultures with strong but very different visual traditions. The website needed to communicate this duality without turning it into an obvious visual cliché.At the same time, the products needed enough space to speak for themselves. The challenge was to create an online experience that could feel quiet and refined like Nordic design, while still carrying moments of colour, rhythm and visual character that reflect Nodi’s wider cultural influences.

Creating space for two cultures to meet

Rather than visually separating “Nordic” and “Asian” influences, I approached the website as a shared canvas.A restrained grid, generous negative space and simple typography create a calm foundation, while unexpected blocks of colour, asymmetrical composition and shifting proportions introduce a more playful layer. The result is intentionally minimal, but not neutral. It gives Nodi a visual identity that feels international, contemporary and slightly unconventional.

Product discovery as exhibition.

A spacious horizontal gallery lets each object stand independently while encouraging exploration across the collection. One of the key ideas was to treat the product catalogue more like a design gallery than a traditional online store.

Designing the brand beyond the product catalogue

The interface also needed to communicate what Nodi stands for.Brand statements such as the idea of bringing together young designers from China and Europe are embedded directly into the browsing experience rather than separated into a conventional “About” page.

This makes the brand story part of the product experience.Instead of telling visitors about Nodi first and showing products afterwards, both happen simultaneously.

The outcome

The final website gives Nodi a digital environment that reflects the brand’s cross-cultural philosophy without over-explaining it.It creates a flexible system where different designers, products and collections can coexist while still feeling unmistakably part of the same brand. The experience is minimal but expressive, product-focused but editorial, and designed to work consistently across desktop and mobile.
